Episode 6
As Han Solo hangs, frozen in carbonite, on the wall of Jabba The Hutt’s palace, the Jedi powers of Luke Skywalker have grown. Leia attempts a rescue, disguised as a bounty hunter, and manages to release Han from the carbonite – but is discovered and enslaved. Luke and Lando then make their attempts, but are all captured and sentenced to death by Sarlacc (a giant creature, buried in the desert).
At the Sarlacc pit, Leia strangles Jabba The Hutt to death, while the rest of the team fight their way to freedom – inadvertently knocking Boba Fett to his death. As the group return to the Rebel Alliance, Luke once again splits from the main team to head to Dagobah – where he discovers the Yoda is dying. Yoda confirms to Luke that Vader is his father, and that Leia is his sister, and that he must confront Vader once and for all if the Empire is to be defeated.
The Rebel Alliance discovers that the Empire is in the final phases of construction on another Death Star, and that its shield is powered from a forested moon called Endor. They plan a mission to sabotage the defences long enough to allow Lando Calrissian to destroy the superweapon with the Millennium Falcon. On Endor, the Rebels work in tandem with the indigenous community of Ewoks, and succeed in defeating the Imperial forces that try to engage with them.
In order to facilitate a confrontation, and having explained the family dynamic to Leia, Luke surrenders himself to Stormtroopers, and is taken to Darth Vader who, in turn, takes him to the Death Star.
Revealing the Empire plan to trap and destroy the Rebel Alliance once and for all, Vader once again tries to tempt Luke to join him on the Dark Side – and discovers the existence of Luke’s sister in the process. He then uses her to blackmail Luke into joining him, which enrages the young Jedi to the point where he attacks Vader. Emperor Palpatine intervenes and tortures Luke with lightning, revealing his intention to betray Vader. This, in turn, causes Vader to attack Palpatine and save Luke, though Vader is mortally wounded in the process.
Luke escapes with the body of his redeemed father, and the Rebel Alliance destroys the Death Star, sparking celebration on Endor. Leia brings Han up to date on her newly discovered family situation, and they finally succumb to their romantic intentions. Luke honours his father with a funeral pyre, and the galaxy far, far away looks forward to more peaceful times.
