Two weeks.
That’s all that remains between now and the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And based on the sequel’s ongoing marketing blitz – from high-res posters to character profiles for DJ and General Armitage Hux, this week alone has been fairly busy for the Lucasfilm camp – it looks as though Rian Johnson really brought his A-game while crafting the next chapter in the Skywalker saga.
Hell, after ordering an all-new Star Wars trilogy with Johnson at the helm, it’s clear that Lucasfilm brass were overly impressed with the director’s work, so it’ll be fascinating to watch audiences react to The Last Jedi in two weeks’ time. Word is Rian Johnson’s follow-up is staring down the face of a massive $200 million debut in North America – a debut that would make it the biggest domestic launch of 2017, no less – and in order to fan the flames of excitement, the Powers That Be have now dropped not one, but two new promos for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Up first is an extended preview of Poe Dameron and BB-8 taking the fight to the First Order. Sitting in the cockpit of a souped-up X-Wing, Oscar Isaac’s whip-smart pilot is able to call upon a one-time boost to evade the inevitable barrage of laser fire from First Order Star Destroyers.
Elsewhere, the second of today’s promos is much more humorous in nature, and sees Chewie’s co-pilot, which just so happens to be a dinky little porg, struggling to remain seated while in flight.
The Star Wars saga continues with The Last Jedi on December 15th, but with Episode IX and a whole new trilogy still to come, things are just getting started for Lucasfilm’s rejuvenated franchise.
