Since unveiling its holographic covers (subscriber-only here; standard issue here), Empire Magazine has become the go-to destination for Star Wars fans pining for anything related to The Last Jedi.
To get you up to speed, so far the outlet has posted new details on Supreme Leader Snoke, the mercurial Kylo Ren, and Poe Dameron’s upgraded X-Wing. Dubbed Black One, Oscar Isaac’s seasoned pilot will be packing serious heat come December, as his Incom-FreiTek T-70 ship has been specially modified by Resistance engineers (Rose, perhaps?) and retrofitted with additional thrust to help evade incoming Star Destroyers.
Elsewhere, Empire also caught up with writer-director Rian Johnson to discuss the level of creative freedom he enjoyed during production, and why he considers Rey and Luke – played by Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill, respectively – to be the “heart of the movie.”
Those two characters are featured down below, too, after Screen Rant posted a series of photocopied images pulled from Empire’s newly-released October issue.
If you’ve been keeping pace with The Last Jedi‘s media cycle, that first image of Luke Skywalker will be overly familiar – ditto for Rey on Ahch-To, which was broadcast to those in attendance at April’s Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim. Aside from that, there are two behind-the-scenes pics of Rian Johnson at work – one of him relaying instructions to Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Isaac), the other of Johnson going over a scene with Chewbacca in what appears to be the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
Now that Force Friday II is behind us and the 100-day countdown has begun, it won’t be too long before Star Wars: The Last Jedi is playing in theaters. December 15th is the date for your diaries, which means a full-length trailer can’t be too far away.
