Lars von Trier is getting ready to release Nymphomaniac, which is drenched in controversy. The epic, two part, sexually explicit film is one that is tough to market but so far, the team has been doing a solid job. We’ve been seeing numerous teasers released over the past few months and now, as the film gears up to hit theatres in Denmark and Norway on Christmas Day, we have 14 new character posters to feast our eyes on.
For those who don’t know, Charlotte Gainsbourg will lead the film as Joe “a young woman who recounts her sexual history to a stranger after being found beaten in an alley. ” What follows is basically a softcore porno, or hardcore if you’re lucky (unlucky?) enough to see von Triers’ uncut version, which he is trying to premiere at Cannes.
The character posters below give us a, well, suggestive look at each of the cast members. As strange as the posters may look, I think that they completely fit in with what we know about and have seen from the film thus far. I actually like them quite a bit and while I’m not sure if I can say that I’m looking forward to the film, I am certainly curious about it, as I’m sure most people are. At the very least, it is sure to cause quite a bit of discussion and chatter.
