IMAX has released a new poster for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, and it features the heroes in a half shell alongside human allies Casey Jones and April O’Neil.
Despite receiving a mixed response in 2014, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles grossed just shy of $500 million worldwide, so the fact that we’re getting this sequel is hardly a surprise. However, adding so many fan-favourite characters and hopefully an acknowledgement of what didn’t work in the first instalment will with any luck go some way in ensuring that the follow-up fares a little better.
Based on the reviews for this one so far, it is a success in that respect, thought still not necessarily what you might call a “good” movie. Of course, like the Transformers franchise for example, this isn’t the kind of release made for critics and it will do doubt end up pulling in strong numbers this weekend at the box office.
Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is directing the sequel, taking over from Jonathan Liebesman, while Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek and Jeremy Howard will reprise the roles of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and Stephen Amell also star, and if Out of the Shadows is a success, don’t be surprised to hear news of a third instalment being greenlit in the near future.
