Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch

The MCU might finally be introducing someone stronger than Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen’s real-life bestie

Wanda may be dethroned as the franchise's most powerful personage.

The MCU is full of superhero heavyweights like Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange, but the sheer multiverse-spanning, reality-warping abilities of Scarlet Witch make her possibly the most overpowered being in the entire franchise. According to the latest intel, however, Wanda Maximoff’s coveted position may soon be usurped by a certain other sorceress, who just happens to be portrayed by one of Elizabeth Olsen‘s IRL pals.

There’s been much speculation about who Aubrey Plaza could be playing in Agatha: Coven of Chaos ever since she was announced to have joined the show last November. Her co-star Patti LuPone recently admitted that The White Lotus star is playing one of the titular chaotic coven (*pretends to be shocked*) except now it appears that she’s not just one of them but the most powerful of the bunch.

As per intel shared by popular Twitter insider CanWeGetSomeToast, Plaza’s mysterious character “should be stronger than even the Scarlet Witch” on paper.

As the hilarious GIF above reminds us, it’s ironic that Plaza could be the one to dethrone Scarlet Witch in the MCU’s power-rankings as she and Olsen are close friends in real-life. The duo starred together in 2017’s Ingrid Goes West (which also features fellow MCU alums Wyatt Russell and Pom Klementieff) and showcased their adorable friendship during the film’s press tour. Oh, and the intimate moment captured above is from this unmissable MTV skit. You’re welcome.

As for who Plaza might be playing that could be this powerful, there are various options, although one popular suggestion goes that she might be embodying Satana, the Queen of Hell herself. We have quite a while to speculate as Agatha: Coven of Chaos probably won’t drop on Disney Plus until early 2024.
