The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer #3

With all the hype surrounding The Avengers lately, it's easy to forget that Marvel has another superhero for us to feast our eyes on this Summer. With all the hype surrounding The Avengers lately, it’s easy to forget that Marvel has another superhero for us to feast our eyes on this Summer. The web-slinger himself, Spider-Man, will be gracing the silver screen in a reboot of the series via The Amazing Spider-Man, which stars Andrew Garfield as the titular hero.

Today, Sony released a new trailer, hoping to take some of the steam away from the monstrous sensation that is The Avengers. Though previous footage was quite impressive, this new trailer blows everything else that we’ve seen right out of the water.

Admittedly, I had my hesitations about the reboot when it was first announced but after this trailer, I’m fully on board. I love the darker tone that they’re going for and I think Garfield is really pulling off the role quite well. Spider-Man looks like a bonafide bad-ass.

Also, I was a bit skeptical of The Lizard when he was announced as the villain as I had a whole list of better choices in mind. That being said, I think he’s going to prove to be a formidable opponent for Spidy. We finally get to see some solid footage of him in the trailer and he looks great, I can’t wait to see Spider-Man go up against him.

Word has it that Sony execs aren’t pleased with the final product but personally, I think it looks completely freaking awesome and far better than Sam Raimi‘s films. I’ve watched the trailer four times now and I’m over-the-top excited for the film. July 3rd can’t come soon enough!

The only thing I’m worried about is the film being overshadowed by The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, which is a very real possibility. From the looks of the trailer though, I think Spidy should be able to hold his own against the two juggernauts.

Sorry, this video is currently unavailable.

The Amazing Spider-Man will star Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. It will open in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theatres on July 3rd.
