Said to be harnessing the power of the sixth and final Infinity Stone (read: Soul), Hela declares war on the God of Thunder’s home world, shatters Mjölnir, and banishes Chris Hemsworth’s hulking hero to the other side of the universe. And that’s where his journey of self-discovery begins.

Directed by Taika Waititi (Hunt For the Wilderpeople), Thor: Ragnarok is undeniably one of the best-looking entries into the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, and today’s scintillating TV spot really drives that point home. From the junk planet of Sakaar (AKA Planet Hulk) to the iconic Rainbow Bridge, Ragnarok certainly doesn’t skimp on spectacle. Whether the actual story is up to snuff, though, is another question entirely.

We know it’ll wrap things up by dovetailing with Avengers: Infinity War, while Waititi himself has vowed to deliver the funniest Thor movie yet. In fact, it’s understood that a sizeable chunk of the film’s dialogue – particularly those scenes involving Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and the God of Thunder – were improvised to foster a tangible, genuine sense of chemistry, so it’ll be fascinating to see if that gamble pays off.

Both Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are top-notch actors, and when you consider that Ragnarok will see them forge an unlikely alliance with Valkyrie and Loki –  Tessa Thompson and Tom Hiddleston, respectively – Taika Waititi’s space opera really includes something for everyone.

It’s the third and final Marvel tentpole of 2017, and it’ll be with us on November 3rd. But tell us, are you looking forward to the release of Thor: Ragnarok? And what do you make of Thor and Loki fighting out of the same corner? You can, as always, drop your thoughts, comments, and concerns in the usual place.
