Trailer For Jean-Luc Godard’s Film Socialisme

A wise man by the name of Werner Herzog once said “Someone like Jean-Luc Godard is for me intellectual counterfeit money when compared to a good Kung Fu film”. That Bavarian has a way with words that I could only dream of coming out with. For a reviewer it is cinematic sacrilege to say anything against famed French auteur Jean-Luc Godard and the whole French New Wave movement. But for me, Godard, as Herzog says, is the cinematic definition of pseudo intelligence, or in layman’s terms: he only thinks he’s clever.
The whole New Wave movement is believed to be the cornerstone of most film history and yet what most people don’t know was not the style they invented but cheap filmmaking. Most people credit them with finding the jump cut or extensive handheld camera, but that was only found because they (Godard, Truffaut) were just critics who had no idea what they were doing and were found by mistake.
But I have particular contempt for Godard, simply for the fact he rags on people only because they are popular. And yet the man is still making movies and he has a new one coming out soon. Film Socialisme. A trailer has been released for the film and from what I have read on the film, that trailer is simply the film only sped up. I am proud to say that it looks to support my opinion on Godard. An angry man who has nothing left to say. You can watch the trailer below. (The Film Stage)
