Uma Thurman is in negotiations to star alongside Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg in the upcoming action-comedy film, American Ultra.

Focusing on a stoner and his girlfriend, the movie tells of how their quiet lives are interrupted when his past crashes into their present, as a Government operation looks set to wipe him out. With Eisenberg and Stewart as the young couple, Thurman will take the role of a Government official, once responsible for a secret program creating ‘sleeper warriors,’ who returns to protect him like a bear with her cub.

The film will be the second feature for Nima Nourizadeh, after his 2012 high school party debut movie, Project X, and is written by Max Landis – now enjoying a great deal of momentum in his career following the success of 2012’s Chronicle, which he also scripted. He, himself, has just wrapped production on his directorial debut, Me Him Her, although there is no word yet on when that project might reach our screens.

Jesse Eisenberg will next be seen in Richard Ayoade’s Dostoevsky-based comedy-drama The Double, which has developed positive word-of-mouth on the festival circuit, and is released in the US on March 24th. The Double’s UK release is set for April 4th 2014, with the performance of its star sure to face greater scrutiny now he has been cast as Lex Luthor in Zach Snyder’s hotly anticipated Man Of Steel follow-up, Batman vs. Superman – apparently gearing up for production in Detroit now.

Kristen Stewart – starring here with Jesse Eisenberg for the second time after 2009’s Adventureland – is currently filming the drama Still Alice alongside Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth and Alec Baldwin. She also has a number of films in post-production, including Clouds Of Sils Maria with Chloe Grace Moretz and Juliette Binoche, and Anesthesia – written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson.

Uma Thurman can currently be seen as Mrs. H in Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac – a vivid contrast to the role she is heading for in American Ultra. Shooting on this project is expected to begin in April, so I’ll leave you to do the math regarding Jesse Eisenberg’s Batman vs. Superman schedule…
