Woody Allen, one of the most prolific filmmakers working in the ‘biz today, has a new trailer for his latest flick available online. Once again the Annie Hall director has united a knock out cast for his next offering, Blue Jasmine. It was never out of the question, really. He’s made a habit of assembling jaw-dropping ensembles. Every one of his films from the last decade, while not suiting everyone’s tastes, have given well-known actors the opportunity to venture into something different.

This time around, he’s roped in a diverse range of talent. The glimpses we get at them in this trailer only confirm that Allen has still got what it takes to draw out the tragedy of the human condition from everyone . The story follows Cate Blanchett’s Jasmine, as she heads from New York to San Francisco after the antics of her duplicitous husband lead her to breaking point. Cripes. There’s gonna be a lot of long conversations containing the word misogynist, we expect.

Rounding out the cast are Sally Hawkins, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard, Bobby Cannavale, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, Alden Ehrenreich and Michael Stuhlbarg. Check out the plot summary below.

After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal (Alec Baldwin), elegant New York socialite Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) moves into her sister Ginger’s (Sally Hawkins) modest apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again.

Delicately portrayed by a regal Cate Blanchett, Jasmine earns our compassion because she is the unwitting instrument of her own downfall. Woody Allen’s new drama BLUE JASMINE is about the dire consequences that can result when people avert their eyes from reality and the truth they don’t want to see.

Blue Jasmine opens in limited release in the US on July 26th and in the UK on September 20th.
