With the SnyderVerse dead in the water, DCU diehards turn their attention elsewhere

Is this the last hope for the Snyderverse?

For years, Zack Snyder fans were mocked for their belief that Warner Bros. would ever release his cut of Justice League. Those naysayers had to eat a big serving of humble pie when the four-hour epic arrived in all its glory on HBO Max in 2021, with critics admitting it was a huge improvement on Joss Whedon’s terrible theatrical edition.

In retrospect, this was the high water mark for the SnyderVerse. Despite ending on something of a cliffhanger, Warner Bros. has shown no inclination to complete the story. Now James Gunn is running the show and the DCU is in the middle of a soft reboot, the coffin has essentially been nailed shut for the Snyder fandom’s hopes.

There’s still might be one glimmer of hope still out there, though, in the form of the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. Ayer is justifiably salty about what Warner Bros. released in theaters, and regularly drops images from his apparently completed director’s cut. He’s just released another BTS pic of Jared Leto in a Joker costume test, reigniting the fire.

This promptly began trending:

Fans are desperate:

Those that have seen this version want the world to join them:

Maybe some day…

We’re fairly confident we will one day see this version of the movie, whether it be via an official release by Warner Bros. years down the line or it somehow leaking online. Unlike Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which needed many VFX shots to be completed, the Ayer cut reportedly only needs some musical tweaks to be ready for release, so let’s hope the studio sees the light!
