At a measly 19 seconds in length – 12 of which are actual footage – this is the very definition of a teaser trailer, so you’d be best tempering expectations until the arrival of the full sizzle reel later tonight. Aside from recruiting Felicity Jones’ capricious Jyn Erso to the cause, you’ll glimpse a few familiar shots played to those iconic, chilling piano notes.

In related news, earlier today we brought you the official synopsis for Rogue One, which can be viewed in full below:

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.

At the forefront of Disney’s galactic rebellion is Jones’ reluctant hero. Bound for the Death Star, she’ll be headlining a crew that includes Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen as Erso’s wayward father, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed as a “long-distance truck driver.” Jiang Wen, James Earl Jones, Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn also star.

Rogue One lands on December 16. Check back to We Got This Covered later tonight when we’ll have the full trailer for you to enjoy.
