He’s witnessed a sorority rise to the fore in Nicholas Stoller’s comedy sequel Neighbors 2 and scored a spontaneous trip to the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates – but where is Zac Efron headed next? Straight to Hell, it seems, for Paramount’s upcoming Wall Street picture said to be loosely based on John LeFevre’s nonfiction novel of the same name.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Efron is currently attached to produce the financial drama, though sources close to THR suggest that the actor is keen to align Straight to Hell as a starring vehicle for himself. It’s still early, early days, but we’ll be keeping track of Efron’s involvement as it nears production.
What we do know is that John M. Phillips (Dirty Grandpa) has been elected to pen the script, with LeFevre’s Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance, Debauchery, and Billion-Dollar Deals acting as the jumping-off point for a dark yet humorous account of his life as a high-profile investment banker. A globe-trotter that placed targets first and morality second, John LeFevre is a fascinating character that ought to command the screen and could, potentially, lend Zac Efron a complex, Wolf of Wall Street-esque starring role.
Beyond Straight to Hell and Wall Street’s corridors of power, Zac Efron has teed up a part in James Franco’s The Masterpiece along with The Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson. Before all of that, though, Dwayne Johnson and his Avengers of the beach will call upon Efron when Baywatch trots into theaters on May 19, 2017.
