Zoe Saldana Says She Doesn’t Know Gamora’s Destiny In Avengers: Endgame

Despite Gamora’s death in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, Zoe Saldana hasn’t been shy about sharing behind-the-scenes content that confirms we’ll be seeing her once more in Avengers: Endgame. Nonetheless, the actress has remained tight-lipped when it comes to her role in this month’s release, even claiming that she doesn’t actually know what’s in store for the Guardians of the Galaxy regular.

In an interview New York Daily News, Saldana alleged that these last couple of years of highly secretive shoots have left her unsure about the fate of Gamora:

“These last two years we’ve been in such a daze shooting these two films for Avengers. Nobody gets the right script because they gave it to misdirect you. We are, like, just gossiping in the trailer, kind of, like … ‘What’s the other actor coming from?’ ‘What do you mean, what did you shoot when you shot with so-and-so?’ ‘Oh, crap, what’s going on?’ I honestly do not know Gamora’s destiny in the Marvel universe.”

Given how cautious Marvel Studios is being over Endgame spoilers, it’s very possible that Saldana is only saying she doesn’t know in order to ward off questions. After all, just last month, Samuel L. Jackson admitted to saying “I don’t know” to every query because that’s the answer he’s “instructed to give.”

Either way, Gamora’s future still feels mysterious at this point. While it’s generally assumed that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will succeed in their mission to reverse the snap, the death of Saldana’s character came much earlier in the film, when Thanos sacrificed her to obtain the Soul Stone. And while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is on the way, Saldana’s involvement has yet to be confirmed.

But again, regardless of what the future holds for Gamora, we at least know that she’ll appear some way or another in Avengers: Endgame, perhaps via the movie’s heavily rumored time travel plot. We’ll find out if the team can save her along with the snapped half of the universe when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
