Bon Iver is preparing to unleash their new record, 22, A Million, on September 30th. Although the next month may go by pretty slowly, the band is making up for it by releasing some songs in the meantime. Their latest offering, “33 ‘God’,” may be the strongest that we’ve heard yet, and you can scope out the eerie lyric video featuring lightning bolts and rainbows above.

The track is a cluster of electronic elements and booming drums, supported by processed vocals and high production. It falls in line with the diversity in other songs released thus far, such as “10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄” and “22 (OVER S∞∞N).” Bon Iver described the record as “part love letter, part final resting place of two decades of searching for self-understanding like a religion,” which initially makes no sense, but after listening to some of the songs, you get what they’re talking about – kind of.

Bon Iver’s 22, A Million will be the group’s first record in five years, following up the Grammy Award winning 2011 effort, Bon Iver, Bon Iver. They’ll be playing 22, A Million songs and more during their three-night run at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California in mid-October, so be sure to check them out there if you want a taste of what we’re in store for with the new effort.
