Deadmau5 is one of the most accomplished producers to come out of the current wave of dance music, but his laundry list of achievements hasn’t slowed down his ambition. The Canadian musician is trying his hand at something new as he takes on the Toronto Maple Leafs with a new sports anthem designed to pump up the hordes of hockey fans at their events.

The new theme for the Maple Leafs was unveiled over the weekend during their centennial home opener, giving us our first taste of the new composition. It features deadmau5’s instantly recognizable style, with heady synth melodies and driving house beats, serving as another solid addition to his expansive repertoire.

Speaking about working with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the “Strobe” producer explained how his latest gig came about.

I got an e-mail from management asking if I would consider doing it and I was like heck yeah. I knew I had to do something that was palatable and worked for the crowd and also lend itself to some audience participation. These thoughts all formed in my head before I even sat down.

Clearly deadmau5 was up to the task of delivering a serviceable sports theme, and we can’t wait to see the full version get released. Meanwhile, we’re still patiently awaiting the arrival of his upcoming new album, which should be dropping sometime soon.
