Toronto based EDM trio Keys N Krates dropped their latest banger this week, delivering the genre defying “U Already Know.” The new track is set to be included with their Midnite Mass EP, which will be released via Dim Mak early next year.
Drawing on a myriad of influences, the trio breathes life into an overcrowded genre, infusing a fresh sense of sonic experimentation without losing their danceable edge. Speaking about their latest track, Keys N Krates commented on the inspiration behind “U Already Know,” stating:
“We wanted this tune to be loud, fun and catchy. A bit of a smack in the face, but a fun smack in the face from one of your best buds.”
“U Already Know” opens with an old school drum break sample, drawing parallels to 90’s Hip Hop and Drum n Bass. The Trap trio slowly mixes in syncopated piano chords and chopped up vocals, before a pitch riser takes the track into the the first drop. Blending bouncy Trap beats with groovy horn stabs and catchy synth melodies, Keys N Krates craft a unique sound here that packs a punch.
