Lorde has taken to Instagram to put a disrespectful critic in their place after a comment was made on the singer’s post of a photo taken while on vacation. In the process, the “Royals” star gave an update on her upcoming album.

The commenter, who wrote, “Do you think we will ever get another album or should we give up on you as an artist?,” was responded to by Lorde with a perfect reply:

give up on me if you want to! I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork. the record is written, we’re in the production stages now. I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys

With Lorde‘s next record already written and currently in the production stages, it will be her first batch of new material since 2013, when the now-19 year old released her breakthrough debut, Pure Heroine.
