Lorde-Curated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Soundtrack Includes Kanye West And Chemical Brothers

When it was announced that "Royals" chanteuse Lorde had been tapped to curate the soundtrack for this fall's hotly anticipated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, general sentiment was that the young Grammy winner was a perfect choice for the task. Talented, zeitgeisty and uncommonly brooding, Lorde certainly fit with the increasingly heavy and dramatic tone of the penultimate franchise entry. And now, with the emergence of an official tracklist for the soundtrack she curated, it's clear that we had good reason to be excited.

When it was announced that “Royals” chanteuse Lorde had been tapped to curate the soundtrack for this fall’s hotly anticipated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, general sentiment was that the young Grammy winner was a perfect choice for the task. Talented, zeitgeisty and uncommonly brooding, Lorde certainly fit with the increasingly heavy and dramatic tone of the penultimate franchise entry. And now, with the emergence of an official tracklist for the soundtrack she curated, it’s clear that we had good reason to be excited.

On the album, Lorde compiled a mixture of highly respected music icons, skilled up-and-comers and unexpected guests. The inclusion of The Chemical Brothers, who so memorably scored Joe Wright’s Hanna, is particularly thrilling, as is a completely out-of-left-field appearance from Kanye West, who’ll be reworking a song by Lorde (who herself appears on four tracks).

Though we already knew about lead-off single “Yellow Flicker Beat,” which landed last month, most of the inclusions here were not previously known. The soundtrack still radiates an aura of mystery given that the fifth track is remaining under wraps for the time being. However, according to Lorde herself, that was hardly the intention:

Regardless, that unnamed track (a duet between Lorde and gal pal Taylor Swift, perhaps?) will land along with the rest when the soundtrack is released on November 17th, four days before The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theaters. Check out the complete tracklist below.
