Move over Aqua, there is a new Barbie anthem coming

C'mon Barbie, let's actually party.

This Barbie World has a new anthem in town – and we’re all here for it. Well, perhaps for the exception of Aqua, who may not be so happy to see their song completely cast aside – yikes.

As the date for the most awaited release in cinema approaches, Dua Lipa is already handing fans a little gift to get the momentum going. The news of an entirely new soundtrack being added to the upcoming Greta Gerwig film came out last year, when the “Barbie Girl” lead singer shared that the iconic and timeless tune would not be a part of the movie. Since then, plenty of rumors arose as to who the leading voice in the soundtrack would be, and it won’t be anyone but the blue-haired mermaid Barbie herself, Lipa.

Almost two months before the release of the film, the new Barbie anthem “Dance the Night,” will reach audiences before they can actually see Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling take upon the role of the coolest duo in town. Nonetheless, it does work as a glimpse for the upcoming film, where Lipa will be also a part of the cast in her second-ever acting role. Talk about being the most talented Barbie in town!

Certainly promising to be an absolute banger, as is the entire of Future Nostalgia, no one could have been better cast for the role of the lead anthem singer for the iconic doll and her own universe. Although there is still some time left until the film reaches the big screens, in the meantime, the song will be out and fans will surely be able to fill in the Barbie-shaped hole that has been left by the promise of seeing a star-studded cast in theatres.

Barbie will finally hit theatres on July 20.
