We came, we saw, we enjoyed.
For the second straight year, the WayHome Music and Arts Festival, as organized by Republic Live, swept through the quaint town of Oro-Medonte, Canada. Roughly 1.5 hours from Toronto, the city saw over 40,000 festival goers descend upon it for the three-day concert series. After the success of the 2015 installment, pressure was high coming into the event, and thankfully, expectations were met.
WayHome 2016 proved to be an incredible time for everyone who attended, with an array of top tier musicians such as The Killers, Arcade Fire, Major Lazer and LCD Soundsystem all playing to massive crowds. With other acts such as The Arkells, Metric and Chet Faker performing as well, there was no shortage of outstanding music during the three-day fest.
In addition to the music, there was an interesting and eclectic variety of both big name brand food and smaller, more local Ontario food trucks that were abundantly available. At times on the busy Saturday of the event, food lines did get rather long, but for the majority of the weekend, filling the bellies of attendees was no problem.
And speaking of the food, one of the big improvements over last year was the convenience of going cashless, with this year employing the use of pre-loaded festival bracelets for all expenses. This made lines move quicker and helped to alleviate any previous cash related logistics and concerns.
All in all, WayHome 2016 was just as good a time if not better than it was last year. With impressive and immersive production surrounding each stage, unique art installations spread throughout the grounds and good vibes coming from everyone we encountered, there was certainly no shortage of fun to be had at the festival last weekend.
