A woman says she disguised herself, found her ex at a bar on Halloween, posed as a psychic and told him ‘There are wrongs you have to right’

Her ex never saw the psychic coming

A 34-year-old woman says she put her ex-boyfriend, Josh, through an elaborate campaign of psychological payback after a messy breakup five years ago, according to her post on Reddit in r/traumatizeThemBack, by u/Cutieneedsu. By her own account, she wanted to make him question his own reality.

She reportedly set out to dismantle his ego using a series of calculated catfishing schemes, claiming he spent their three-year relationship gaslighting her and dragging her name through the mud. Josh’s side of the story could not be verified, and the account comes solely from her post. She says the process started on dating apps shortly after their split, where she created multiple profiles to match with him, then rejected him with specific, stinging critiques.

According to the woman, one persona turned him down by claiming he wasn’t an intellectual match, while others mocked his machismo complex when he insulted his ex. However, her campaign against her ex-boyfriend ran deeper than a few rejections. To keep things interesting, she allegedly recruited her friend “Ashley” to take the lead.

Her final trick was posing as a psychic at his old bar

They apparently orchestrated a plan where “Ashley” would court him, only to keep rescheduling their dates. According to the woman, “Ashley” eventually showed up at his workplace and caused a scene that ended with Josh driving her home while she vomited in his prized car. For a while, the woman claims she stepped back as her ex-boyfriend seemed to focus on the gym and therapy. However, she says the urge to intervene returned on Halloween.

She claims she knew her ex-boyfriend’s behavioral patterns well enough to predict he would be out at a bar, so she prepared a disguise using special effects makeup, contact lenses, and a wig. According to the woman, the goal was to make herself completely unrecognizable. She claims she even carried a phone case featuring a movie she had previously said she disliked, just in case he started to get suspicious. She claims the disguise worked.

She says she spotted him at a bar they used to frequent and struck up a conversation while using a higher, breathier voice. As the drinks flowed, she reportedly leaned into her ex-boyfriend’s known disdain for the supernatural by claiming to be a psychic. When he supposedly challenged her to prove it, she reportedly hit him with personal details about his life, including his three-letter nickname and his complicated feelings toward the father he was named after.

The encounter allegedly climaxed during a cigarette break. According to the woman, she told him, “I sense romantic mishap in your life and it’s been happening for some time now. There are wrongs you have to right.” She claims to have said, “This woman from the past, she holds love for you still, but it almost feels like that love is corrupted. There are things you both have not let go of that bind you together. Until forgiveness is given, this misery will linger.”

She claims she saw tears welling in her ex-boyfriend’s eyes before she left the bar. The following evening, Josh allegedly sent her a long, sappy apology for his past behavior and lack of accountability. The woman says she wasn’t looking to reconcile, and when he supposedly started fishing for forgiveness at the end of his message, she reportedly ended the interaction with two words: “Get f—ed.”

Commenters were divided. Some cheered her on, with one writing, “That was the best way to get revenge.” Others were far less impressed, calling it “some psychotic a– behavior” and adding, “I’m sorry this is how you want to spend your life. Seems miserable.” At least one user doubted the story altogether, replying, “And then everybody clapped.”
