Axwell Speculates About Swedish House Mafia Reunion In Recent Interview

In case you had any doubt that EDM's hair metal phase was coming to a close, some of the movement's most celebrated supergroups of yesteryear have taken to teasing reunions to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe as a means of keeping their names in people's mouths. While it seemed a little more realistic when Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire talked about the possibility of a Pendulum reunion, Swedish House Mafia's Axwell seems a bit less genuine in how he addresses the all-too-common question.

In case you had any doubt that EDM’s hair metal phase was coming to a close, some of the movement’s most celebrated supergroups of yesteryear have taken to teasing reunions to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe as a means of keeping their names in people’s mouths. While it seemed a little more realistic when Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire talked about the possibility of a Pendulum reunion, Swedish House Mafia‘s Axwell seems a bit less genuine in how he addresses the all-too-common question.

When asked by Lowe about the possibility of a reunion, Axwell said:

We think about it every now and then, you know what we left, what we did, what we accomplished and everything, and how it would be to do something together again. But I think, the only thing is that time will tell pretty much. We have been blessed to be riding this wave, and just ahead of the wave for some time now, so you know we are able to do exactly what we want, which is a blessing. You know this song that we just played, it was just like no thoughts, no need, no nothing, just music. Who knows what happens in the future, we might get a sudden urge for Swedish House Mafia again… who knows!

…And just like that – BOOM – headlines. While a Swedish House Mafia reunion still doesn’t seem like that worthwhile an endeavor for any of the group’s original members at this time, the appeal will likely grow in time. Once all three of them need money badly enough that the ink dries on such an arrangement, we’ll provide you with all the juicy details.
