Backstreet’s back, alright! During their recent performance at the Los Angeles Convention Center, The Chainsmokers brought out the legendary boy band Backstreet Boys as special musical guests. Kaskade became the first DJ to play LACC earlier in the year, so it comes as no surprise that The Chainsmokers would try to top that historic show with an equally noteworthy performance.
Pairing up nostalgic, turn of the millennium pop with dance music has become something of an infatuation for The Chainsmokers. It’s no secret that the duo took heavy inspiration from Blink 182 when writing “Closer,” and somehow bringing out The Backstreet Boys on stage seems like a logical progression from there. Naturally, fans were eating up the unlikely live collaboration.
A joint concert between The Chainsmokers and The Backstreet Boys is the kind of event social media was made to immortalize, and plenty of fan-shot videos of the whole thing have now surfaced on the internet. Whether you’re checking it out for the first time or reliving the epic concert, the footage is definitely worth the watch.
Take a look at what went down in the video above and Tweets below and be sure to listen to the unreleased song that The Chainsmokers debuted during the concert, too.
