Classic Soundtracks Unlikely To Return In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD

Some games are just as memorable for their soundtracks as they are for including great gameplay. One of those would certainly be the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater titles of generations past. After all; who can forget some of the more prominent songs on the original game's list, such as Goldfinger's Superman. Heck; that's pretty much the only song I listened to during my hundreds of hours spent with that masterpiece. It aided in the band becoming a personal favourite, acting as my introduction to their music leading to wanton interest to check out more.

One of those would certainly be the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles of generations past. After all; who can forget some of the more prominent songs on the original game’s list, such as Goldfinger‘s Superman. Heck; that’s pretty much the only song I listened to during my hundreds of hours spent with that masterpiece. It aided in the band becoming a personal favourite, acting as my introduction to their music.

When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD was revealed at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards, thoughts about returning music made their way through my head. Surely, I’m not alone, considering some of the articles and comments found online. It seems like I wasn’t the only one who became addicted to Superman. Though, our memories of skateboarding to that tune will most-likely remain just that – unless you own the original release.

To quote the One of Swords blog and its founder Dan Amrich (of Activision,) it’s unlikely that those classic songs will return in this made-over release. His answer to the question is, “Probably not,” which is a disappointing return.

“Right now, everything is unknown, and there’s a lot more work to do before things are final,” Amrich stated. He went on to state that it might be easier to license new tracks.

Although this is disappointing news for the series’ hardcore fans, it’s not surprising. Then again, there’s nothing preventing people from listening to whatever they want while they play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.

Tony Hawk and company are expected to return this summer, for a fifteen-dollar price tag.
