Jackie Estocado’s upcoming attempt at revenge will have to wait a little while longer, as 2K Games has officially announced a delay until 2012, for The Darkness 2. Originally slated to release this October, the game will now be releasing on February 7 in North America, and February 10 in Europe. This news affects the console and PC versions of the game.
Those in attendance at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego will have a chance to demo the anticipated title. There will be eight different demo kiosks set up at the Top Cow booth (#2629).
There will also be a panel titled, Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment on July 21. It will take place at noon in room 9 of the Convention Centre. The co-creator of the game’s comic book series inspiration and talent from the game will be in attendance for this in-depth discussion.
Being a fan of the first Darkness game and also thinking that it was an underrated gem, it goes without saying that I can’t wait to try its sequel. As with all delays, the news certainly stinks but the way I approach them is with the knowledge that it should make for a better experience.
No gamer wants to play a game with issues, so it’s good that the development team is getting more time to work on it. The wait should definitely be worthwhile if the stuff we’ve seen thus far has been any indication of what’s to come.
