A Florida woman is facing online backlash after posting a video of herself scolding an in-house maid. TikTok user @walkingmiracle18, who goes by Blessed Blind Lady, shared the interaction with the employee, according to The Nerd Stash. Viewers who watched the footage largely decided she was in the wrong for how she spoke to the worker.
The incident began as the woman was driving home and spotted something on her camera system. She claimed the newly hired aide, who looks after her mother, was sitting on her phone while on the clock. She justified the move by saying, “This is how we have to speak up for people who don’t want to help our loved ones.”
As soon as the woman walks into her home, she confronts the maid, who does appear to be sitting on her phone on the couch. She immediately presses the maid about her job and questions whether she even wants to work there. She also complains that the worker has been on her phone for “like 20 minutes.”
Her own commenters quickly decided she was the problem
She continues the confrontation by telling the employee, “We hired you people for you guys to help my mom,” and adds, “not to just sit out on the phone.” She then directs the maid into her mother’s bedroom, as if to show the chores left undone. Inside the room, she allegedly points out various tasks in a confrontational manner.
As she ends her video, she critiques everything the maid was supposedly paid to do. “People have to get it right with aides,” the woman says in what many viewers labelled a hostile tone. The reaction appeared swift, as many commenters sided against the person filming.
One viewer called her “aggressive for no reason.” Another commenter, who said caregivers kept her nine-year-old grandson’s room and clothes clean, argued that aides should never be handling household chores. However, the woman fired back in the comments, claiming she never disrespected the worker.
That reply seemingly drew fresh criticism in the thread. One viewer argued her approach to the maid was disrespectful, while another suggested she wanted a problem the moment she pressed record. Others questioned why she called the worker an aide, as several commenters pointed out that home health aides are not maids.
Workplace confrontations filmed for TikTok have drawn similar scrutiny before, including an ex-Dunkin’ worker’s video about a reportedly withheld paycheck. Care workers have also faced consequences online after four nurses were fired over a viral video. However, in this case, the person holding the camera appears to be the one under fire.
