Florida woman reportedly tracks boyfriend to her own Volkswagen, takes an Uber to confront him. Then she allegedly fires a pink Glock: ‘Karma’

And she does not feel guilty.

A Florida woman who suspected her boyfriend of cheating allegedly tracked him down and found him with another woman in a vehicle. But instead of confronting the pair with questions, she allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the passenger. Now, the 24-year-old faces several criminal charges, including attempted first-degree murder, according to Florida Today.

Katherine Dale Kelly of Cocoa was arrested by deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. She is accused of shooting Angel Adenau, who was sitting in a vehicle driven by Kelly’s boyfriend, Elijah Baker.

According to an arrest affidavit, the incident began when Baker picked up Adenau at around 1:20 a.m. and drove to a residence on Bamboo Avenue in the Port St. John area. He was allegedly driving a Volkswagen owned by Kelly, without her permission. Baker parked the vehicle in a grassy field, reportedly unaware that Kelly had been tracking his location because she suspected him of infidelity.

An act of revenge reportedly gone wrong

Kelly reportedly took an Uber to the location and asked the driver to take her to the Volkswagen. Once she arrived, she approached the vehicle with a pink-and-black Glock handgun that she had apparently taken from her purse. She walked toward the passenger side, where Adenau was sitting, and fired a single round through the window. The bullet reportedly struck Adenau in the left shoulder.

Baker immediately drove away with Adenau and took her to her home, where other residents apparently called emergency services. Paramedics transported her to Holmes Regional Medical Centre for treatment. Baker later allegedly returned to the scene to pick up Kelly and drove her home.

The investigation uncovered text messages on Baker’s phone in which Kelly accused him of cheating. Deputies also reportedly found a message from Kelly threatening to shoot someone over the suspected infidelity. Investigators recovered the Glock handgun and a 9mm shell casing as part of their inquiry.

During her initial interview with detectives, Kelly reportedly claimed she had acted in self-defence. However, she later admitted to shooting Adenau, saying she wanted to “make a point.” She also told investigators that she believed Baker was cheating on her again. When detectives asked whether she felt guilty about shooting Adenau, Kelly reportedly brought up “karma” and said the other woman should have known that Baker already had a partner.

She was booked into the Brevard County Jail and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. No bond had been set at the time of reporting.

According to the Florida Senate, if convicted, Kelly could face a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison under Florida’s Law for discharging a firearm during a qualifying felony. If prosecutors establish that the shooting caused great bodily harm, the mandatory minimum could rise to 25 years, with a possible sentence of life imprisonment.
