Florida woman stabs teen sister 10 times for catching her looking through her phone. Her sentence has justice system under fire

The court decision has triggered backlash.

Lynn My Le, a 26-year-old woman from Florida, has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and seven years of probation for stabbing her 15-year-old sister 10 times. The attack took place after the teenager caught Le going through her phone while she was napping in the living room. The sentence has since sparked strong reactions from the public, with many people feeling it does not match the seriousness of what happened.

When the teenager confronted Le about going through her phone, Le responded by grabbing a knife and stabbing her. The younger sister tried to run toward the front door to escape, but Le followed her and stabbed her multiple times in the back, causing her to collapse on the floor. According to Law and Crime, the teenager “pleaded for her life” before Le finally stopped the attack and left her bleeding on the floor.

The younger sister was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the attack. When police arrived at the scene, Le refused to cooperate with officers and was subsequently arrested. The attack was captured on surveillance footage, which has since been released to the public and shows the younger sister being loaded into an ambulance.

The attempted murder charge being dropped makes this sentence even harder for many people to accept

A significant part of the public outrage surrounding this case is the fact that the attempted murder charge against Le was dismissed by the judge. Many people feel that this decision, combined with the 180-day jail sentence and seven years of probation, does not reflect the severity of stabbing someone 10 times and leaving them in critical condition.

The leniency of the outcome has left a lot of people questioning how the justice system weighs violent crimes of this nature. This is not the first time Florida courts have handed down a sentence that left the public questioning how justice was served.

The case has opened up a broader conversation about how courts handle violent crimes, especially those that happen between family members. Some people are calling for stricter laws and harsher sentencing guidelines for violent offenders, arguing that a short jail term followed by probation is not a sufficient consequence for an attack this serious.

Others, however, believe the sentence may have been appropriate depending on the specific legal and personal circumstances considered by the court. Le’s younger sister, who has not been publicly named, is now left to cope with both the physical injuries and the emotional trauma caused by the attack.

The fact that the violence was carried out by her own older sister makes the situation even more difficult. The incident has also prompted questions about the mental health of both sisters and whether there were deeper underlying issues that contributed to such an extreme reaction over something as minor as a phone being looked through.

The surveillance footage that was made public has added to the shock and anger many people feel about this case. Watching a teenager being carried into an ambulance after being stabbed by a family member makes the reality of the attack very difficult to ignore, and for many viewers, it has made the relatively light sentence feel even more unjust.

Florida has had no shortage of bizarre and alarming stories making headlines recently, including a Florida man’s strange claim about a tree moving toward his house, but this case stands out for far more serious reasons. The footage has circulated widely and continued to keep the story in public conversation.

As debate around the case continues to grow, many are now asking whether high-profile cases like this one could lead to a closer examination of sentencing practices for violent crimes in Florida and beyond.

Whether or not any legal changes follow, the case has already had a lasting impact on how people are thinking about accountability, family violence, and the role of the justice system in protecting victims. For the family at the center of it all, the effects of that October night in 2025 will likely be felt for a long time to come.
