When Borderlands was originally released back in 2009, one of that game’s most talked-about features was its diverse weapons system. Finding two identical guns was an incredible rarity, making every looting session a digital version of Christmas morning. However, it seems like Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will end up outdoing that marveled upon design with its expansive Gunsmith weapon customization system. It promises 52 different weapons, with each one having up to ten customization options. That adds up to two million potential combinations. Colour me impressed.

Gunsmith is shaping up to be one of the most interesting aspects of this much-anticipated shooter. Being able to go in-depth with weapon customization options, in an attempt to gear up for varied combat situations, will surely benefit players. As a result, gamers will be able to feel that the weapons they’re using are truly their own.

Kinect owners can even use their high-tech peripheral to aid their accessorizing.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be released onto the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 22. The PC version’s launch date has been set for June 13.
