There were plenty of recording artists who didn’t win awards at Sunday night’s Grammys. However, the big loser of the night appeared to have been Ben Affleck — or at least that’s what the consensus was online, anyway — after viral photos and video showed the actor in full-on “hello darkness my old friend” mode while sitting next to his absolute knockout of a wife, Jennifer Lopez.
The pair were seated together with Dwayne Johnson and wife Lauren Hashian in prime A-lister view, where Affleck could clearly be seen looking miserable throughout the ceremony. At one point, he looked wholly unenthusiastic while swaying left and right to Stevie Wonder‘s Grammy performance. And a couple of times, Lopez appeared to scold her husband, causing him to sit up straighter in his seat. But his face couldn’t lie!
Yet Lopez, ever the perfectionist when it comes to her highly-curated public image, made her best attempt to control the narrative the following day. “Always the best time with my love, my husband,” Lopez captioned a photo montage of the evening, set to the Harry Styles hit single “As It Was.”
Unfortunately, it seems as though most people aren’t buying it.
“I don’t know but I get vibes from those two that seem off,” commented one user, while another wondered “why Ben looks like he is in pain all the time.” Some commenters even took aim at Lopez for not just leaving her hubby home if he wasn’t going to enjoy himself. “Yeah, until you went MOM mode on him,” fired off another commenter. “Poor Ben!”
Lopez and Affleck began dating again in April 2021, nearly 20 years after their first go-around as a couple. The pair were famously engaged to be married in September 2003, however, the wedding was postponed just four days ahead of time allegedly due to excessive media attention, and they called it off completely in January 2004.
Finally, 19 years later, Lopez and Affleck wed in Las Vegas chapel in July 2022, and initially, it seemed like they couldn’t be happier. Whether they can make it stick the second time around remains to be seen.
