Those who like specially coloured and limited edition controllers will be happy to hear that Microsoft has officially unveiled two new Xbox One pads themed after Halo 5: Guardians. What they won’t be happy about, however, is the expensive price tag that the two share.
Unsurprisingly, the two controllers are based on Halo 5‘s main protagonists: Master Chief and Agent Locke. In fact, they’re quite on the head with this, thanks to visual designs that echo the characters’ unique armors.
First up is the Master Chief pad, which is honestly a bit ugly. Its inspiration is certainly easy to identify, but an over-use of Spartan green and a basic gold D-pad make it look bland and boring. That is, despite an interesting-looking area where the texture seems to be different from the rest. That’s on both controllers, though.
Easily the better of the two, the Agent Locke controller is sharp-looking with a metallic grey finish and light blue accents, including on its D-pad. It’s much more interesting and creative, because whereas the Master Chief variant has one spot of text and a basic one at that, this one not only features the UNSC label, but also the numbers and initials of the Spartans Locke is following in the game.
Both of these accessories can be yours in October, provided that you’re willing to pay a steep price. That’s because, not only are they going to be limited, but they’ll also be five dollars more than your average limited edition controller. What that means is $69.99 (US dollars) as opposed to $64.99.
That said, those who have yet to purchase an Xbox One and have been waiting for Halo 5: Guardians to release before doing so, can get the beautiful Agent Locke controller with Microsoft’s newly announced Halo 5 console. It’s a nice-looking set that includes a bunch of content, including:

What’s especially cool about this $500 package — which will release on October 20th of this year — is that it features unique Halo-themed sound effects, much like the upcoming Forza 6 console and its engine sounds.
