In light of an unfortunate series of events last weekend which led Mad Decent Boat Party to cancel their entertainment schedule early, the cruise festival’s organizers have issued partial refunds to the event’s attendees. The unfortunate suicide of festivalgoer Kaylyn Sommer forced the ship to turn around and required attendees to stay in their cabins – and the size of the consolation made by Mad Decent is being scoffed at by many.
For the unforeseeable changes made to the Mad Decent Boat Party’s schedule, ticket holders have been promised a refund of 57.47%, according to TMZ. A representative issued a statement explaining that the refunds would apply to the cost of “the cancelled excursion plus port taxes. Everything else is nonrefundable.”
Being that the cost of tickets ranged from $1,000-2,000, the grumbling from ticket holders was to be expected – but in a heartwarming gesture, many have taken to donating their refunds to Kaylyn’s Memorial Fund, which as of this writing has reached over $11,000 of its projected $15,000 requirement.
