Although Electronic Arts did move SSX up a couple of weeks from February 14 to February 28, the video game giant has not abandoned the lovers’ holiday altogether. In fact, its plan is to debut a public demo on that day, for what is arguably the most popular game releasing in early 2012: Mass Effect 3.

Slated to include both single player and multiplayer content, the demo for BioWare‘s science fiction role-playing game will release onto PC, Xbox LIVE and PSN on the exact same day.

Here’s a story-related quote from EA‘s demo announcement:

“The extensive demo will allow players to experience the all-out galactic war against an ancient alien race known as the Reapers from multiple fronts, including the mind-blowing opening attack on Earth that kicks off the single-player campaign.”

Don’t forget that playing this demo will unlock unique items for use in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Mass Effect 3 will be released on March 6, 2012.
