McDonald’s customer finishes her Diet Coke. Then she looks inside the cup and realizes what she just swallowed: ‘Literally, it was in someone’s ear’

That's going to scar her for life.

A TikTok user named Jo discovered a piece of jewelry sitting at the bottom of her McDonald’s Diet Coke after she had already finished the entire drink, BroBible reports. She shared the discovery in a video that has reached 7,391 views.

Jo starts her video by saying, “So I just finished drinking my Diet Coke, from McDonalds, and as I looked at the cup, I saw something.” She points her camera toward the bottom of the cup to reveal a chained pearl earring resting inside. The visual is clear, and it is honestly pretty gross to think about someone drinking a beverage containing a foreign object like that. She notes, “I don’t know if you can see it, but there is an earring in my drink… and I finished the whole thing.”

The situation seems even more personal when she mentions, “Literally, it was in someone’s ear.” She explains that she was not paying attention to the cup while she was drinking, adding, “So I wasn’t looking. I was just, like, picking up, taking a sip. whatever.”

It is a nauseating realization for anyone who enjoys grabbing a soda with their meal

Viewers on TikTok had plenty to say about the incident. Many were shocked by the find, with one person writing, “This is INSANE.” Another commenter added, “HELLO THAT’S HUGE.” Some users were quick to point out the potential for a payout, with one person claiming, “Someone’s about to make BANK.”

Others suggested she return to the restaurant to find the owner of the jewelry or report the issue to management. One viewer advised, “You’re NOT supposed to wear jewelry in food service. I’d take the cup to whatever location you purchased it (with the earring still in it) and show it to a manager so the right person gets in trouble. Then make a complaint to however many health inspectors you have in your area. Not to be a Karen but that absolutely disgusting and I’m so sorry that happened to you.”

This is not the first time a customer has found an earring in their beverage. A user on the r/wellthatsucks subreddit shared a story about finding a large spiral earring in an iced tea. That person decided to return to the restaurant to address the issue directly. They explained, “I went to the restaurant and dined in. Took my drink home, sipped on it for quite awhile and discovered an earring at the bottom. Neither myself or my partner wear earrings. Returned to get a refund and the cashier was still there to die in front of me when I showed it to her.”

When asked why they did not confront the employee about the missing piece of jewelry, the Redditor noted that the worker’s hair covered her ears. They added, “In the off chance she were to remove the other earring and deny it. Plus, I wasn’t leaving without a refund.”
