Nashville woman lives everyone’s worst fear – getting locked in a Buffalo Wild Wings bathroom: ‘I was panicking’

A quick trip to a restroom is a routine detour for most of us in the middle of a casual night out. But for Nashville content creator Madison Bransford (@madison_bransford), a bathroom break at Buffalo Wild Wings turned into an embarrassing public trap. As soon as she was done with her business, the heavy stall door jammed on its lock mechanism and locked her inside.

In a hilarious TikTok clip sitting at nearly 300,000 views, Bransford captured the sudden panic of realizing she had been locked inside a bathroom with no one around. In a matter of minutes, her ordinary pit stop forced her to weigh an awkward parkour escape over bathroom stalls.

Getting trapped behind commercial restroom hardware is a surprisingly common phobia. It often triggers sudden claustrophobic panic. But Bransford handled the situation calmly, and turned it into a memory to laugh about later. 

A bathroom stall at Buffalo Wild Wings locked down unexpectedly

The ordeal began when Bransford stepped away to use the women’s restroom during her visit to the sports bar franchise. Once inside the stall, she engaged the slide lock on the door. But soon enough, she found herself firmly trapped when she attempted to exit. Filming the stubborn lock, Brantford repeatedly tugged, rattled, and pushed against the handle, but the door refused to budge even a fraction of an inch.

“I’m locked in a bathroom stall at Buffalo Wild Wings,” she laughed nervously into the camera. “Y’all look at this… Like, the door won’t open!” Realizing she had no clear path out, Bransford surveyed her surroundings for potential escape routes.

Looking upward toward the stall divider, she considered using the wall-mounted accessibility handrail as a makeshift ladder. “I think I can like climb up on this bar and then like climb up over that ledge? I don’t know…” she debated, reluctant to attempt an ungainly acrobat routine in a public restroom.

A stranger rescued Bransford from the stall trap

Before Bransford had to risk pulling herself over the top partitions, she heard the outer bathroom door swing open as another woman walked in. Seizing the lifeline, Bransford immediately called out through the partition: “Is there someone in here?”

Immediately, the woman confirmed they were in the room. Relieved to get a response, Bransford quickly explained the mechanical malfunction to the stranger, saying “Okay, so the door won’t open.” Hearing this, the other woman sprung into action as an impromptu rescue squad. 

The woman checked the exterior frame and instructed Bransford where to apply leverage: “Okay, here, you can push it right here.” With her pushing from the outside while Bransford pressed the latch, the jammed lock gave way with a loud click, swinging wide open to freedom. 

Overwhelmed with relief, Bransford couldn’t hide her laughter. However, she also admitted that behind her giggles, genuine panic had set in as she contemplated being stuck inside the stall indefinitely. “Oh my gosh, thank God! [laughs] I was panicking! I was like, what am I going to do?!” she said.

Fortunately, the fellow diner’s quick assistance turned what could have been a mortifying call to management into a harmless viral comedy of errors. Bransford also made the rest of us meet her rescuer, turning her camera toward her. “Wave to the people! You’re my savior!” The helpful stranger happily smiled and waved directly to the camera before Bransford exited the restroom.
