Swifties turn against their fave, figuring out the cringiest Taylor Swift lyrics

Taylor Swift has some of the most incredible lyrics, but her fans are also highlighting some of the most cringe.

Taylor Swift is one of the most iconic, stylistic, and talented singers/songwriters in recent times, and if you ask her hoards of fans worldwide what they love most about her, it would easily be that her lyrics are relatable, speaking to people of all ages, circumstances, and backgrounds with one song.

That’s the magic of music, bringing people together in just a few minutes that unite all of us, and Swift’s sold-out world tours are proof she’s one of the best in the game. With 10 studio albums, four live albums, and five EPs, Swift is prolific, and her songs bring out the best and worst memories in all of us. Falling in love, falling out of it, being heartbroken, and feeling the magic of a spark once again; it’s all magnificent and wonderful, dreamy, and fantastic — but some Swifties are calling out the lyrics they’re calling the “cringiest” from her greatest albums.

It goes without saying that depending on what plane of existence you’re in, some songs will suit you better than others. If you’re in love, tunes like “Lavender Haze” and “Love Story” might be your go-tos. If you’re missing the nostalgia of first love, you might feel more drawn to “Long Live” and “Enchanted,” and if you’re feeling heartbroken — sad tunes like “Back to December” and “All Too Well” are at the top of your must-listen list.

Sometimes, however, the lyrics of one of Swift’s songs might hit a little differently than usual. You might be listening to a song and suddenly realize the line you just rocked out to is a little… cringy. A Reddit thread today asked Swift’s biggest fans what lyrics they consider the most off the wall, and with over 1,000 responses, people have opinions.

Starting off, we must share the comment that made us laugh hysterically. High School Musical vibes are the best vibes, thank you very much.

Some Swifties shared lyrics they used to find cringy that make their hearts soar now.

Another fan really loved those lyrics, too, saying there’s something special that occurs within a sibling bond.

Is there something cringy about coming back stronger than a ’90s trend? This fan thinks so.

Other fans of Swift think that the entirety of “Karma” is cringy, while others believe it’s right on point. If the lyrics are a little off, the song’s message is right on time — isn’t karma always a selling point?

Several fans took issue with the lyrics from “Bad Blood,” and while we agree it is a total bop, we understand those who think the terminology is a little less than profound.

If you scroll through the replies, a heap of Swifties really point out the fact that “Bad Blood” sounds like an emotional teenager wrote it, and while some love the tune, others just can’t find the magic in this one.

Now, we consider ourselves life-long Swifties, but this has always bothered us so much that we just sing “real low” when we hear the song come on. No offense to the iconic songwriter, but real low just… fits?

We love Taylor Swift as much as the next person, but we agree with this one — it’s sweet, and we get the notion behind it, but there’s just something about that part of the tune that’s a little off.

This fan can’t get over the repetition in “Teardrops on my Guitar,” and it didn’t bother us until we saw it spelled out in front of our eyes just now.

This fan brought up a good point: the “cringy” lyrics that Swift produces usually come from a place of having fun with songwriting, not taking things too seriously, and opening up to just letting loose. Now, with that being said, they take issue with the fact that “The Lakes” is full of beautiful lyrics, but when Swift sings about “tweeting it,” it loses some of its power.

Another fan said that, after reading this entire thread, cringy Taylor Swift is their favorite — and we have to agree.

No matter what Swift does, her songs are like a little piece of candy for the soul, and we can’t get enough — cringy or not.
