Toronto woman says creepy man crossed physical boundaries at TJ’s bar. Then he allegedly got on hands and knees and barked for her: ‘Can’t defend him’

You never know how these bar stories go.

A woman visiting a TJ’s bar, a popular Muskoka nightlife place, reportedly demanded an unusual apology after she says a man drew on her face with a sharpie. To her surprise, the man allegedly actually dropped to his knees on the dance floor and barked like a dog.

Toronto-based content creator Lara (@dumbblondediary) shared the story in a TikTok video that has drawn thousands of views. After leaving an early gathering, Lara and her friends reportedly stopped at TJ’s bar, a nightlife spot in Ontario’s cottage country known for drawing lively weekend crowds.

While on the dance floor, the group allegedly crossed paths with an eccentric stranger from Ottawa, whose behavior quickly grew disruptive. It allegedly began with uninvited physical contact, and culminated in marker scribbles across Lara’s forehead. Lara said she confronted him directly, refusing to accept an ordinary apology.

An uninvited marker scribble led to a dance floor standoff at TJ’s bar

Recounting the night while wiping off her makeup, Lara explained that her group arrived at TJ’s bar at around 1 AM to check out the local scene. The venue was reportedly packed with 20-somethings, and the dance floor soon filled up.

“We see this guy walking by us with like his golf pants wedged up to his belly button,” Lara said, noting that he soon wandered over to their area and started dancing near their table. However, the energy shifted when the stranger allegedly began crossing physical boundaries.

“He was like licking—okay, I literally can’t defend him. He licked my arm from like my wrist all the way up,” she recalled. The breaking point reportedly arrived moments later when the man brought a marker. “He was obviously a freak, and came over at one point and scribbled sharpie on my forehead. I literally stopped everything I was doing, I was like, ‘That’s not f***ing funny.’ I was furious.”

When the man attempted to defuse the situation, Lara reportedly laid out an ultimatum: “I was telling him how to apologize, and I was like, ‘Get on your knees and bark.’ And he got on his knees, and he was like, ‘What do you need?’ And he’s like kissing my ankles.” Following the public display of contrition, Lara and her friends reportedly left the place, found their designated driver friend and reached back home safely.

The social dynamics of alcohol-fueled disinhibition in nightlife spaces

The man’s bizarre conduct and submissive apology could be due to the pronounced effects of acute alcohol myopia in nightlife venues. In behavioral science, alcohol myopia theory posits that intoxication narrows an individual’s cognitive bandwidth, causing them to focus almost entirely on immediate, salient cues while ignoring long-term social consequences and personal boundaries.

A landmark study demonstrates that elevated alcohol consumption severely impairs executive cognitive control, drastically lowering inhibitions and amplifying boundary-violating behaviors in crowded social settings. In high-energy environments like bars and nightclubs, social disinhibition can prompt individuals to engage in invasive antics such as physical contact that they might recognize as impermissible while sober.

Navigating weekend nightlife frequently involves handling unpredictable crowds. But setting immediate boundaries and having a reliable, sober exit plan remain the most dependable ways to keep a chaotic night out from turning sour.
