Watch Aphex Twin’s First US Performance In Eight Years

There's no denying that Aphex Twin has been enjoying a spectacular career revival. After slipping into relative obscurity after the release of his 2001 LP Drukqs, he returned in 2014 with the Grammy award winning album Syro, followed up with the Cheetah EP earlier this summer. Following up on that release, it was revealed that the eccentric producer would be delivering his first stateside performance in eight years at Day For Night's 2016 outing.

Now that Aphex Twin’s monumental return to the US festival circuit has come and passed, it should come as no surprise that a number of videos have surfaced of the historic performance. While the epic nature of Aphex Twin’s latest show can’t really be done justice by low quality footage, the videos serve as a tantalizing transport to one of the year’s most anticipated DJ sets.

Backed by an impressive light show, the IDM frontrunner dishes up a frenetic barrage of beats and bloops, touching on the kind of spastic material that defined his output around the turn of the century. In addition to dropping an unforgettable set, it was reported over the weekend that Aphex Twin’s merchandise booth was selling a mysterious limited edition record, which we’re sure will surface online soon enough.
