Woman with epilepsy says her ex-mother-in-law went to child services claiming she was possesed- so she FaceTimed her from a fake altar

Her ex-mother-in-law called her seizures demonic.

According to a woman who lives with epilepsy, she spent years hearing her former mother-in-law insist that her seizures were a sign of an alleged demonic possession. During the divorce, the mother-in-law supposedly took that belief to child protective services. The woman claims to have answered by staging a fake satanic ritual over FaceTime, and the stunt allegedly left her ex-mother-in-law’s credibility in pieces.

The woman shared the story on Reddit explaining that her ex-mother-in-law allegedly told child protective services she was possessed by spirits and using snakes to harm her children. She claims that she does not even own any snakes. Despite that, the false allegations kept piling up as the divorce went on.

The mother-in-law supposedly had a long history of what the woman described as religious psychosis, often claiming that the seizures were not real and that the woman required religious intervention. She reportedly made those comments behind her back. However, the divorce process supposedly caused the mother-in-law to stop holding back.

She decided to give her ex’s mother exactly the show she was expecting

Reportedly feeling pushed to her limit, the woman claims she leaned into the bizarre narrative her ex-mother-in-law was creating. She apparently gathered black candles, a wine-filled chalice, and crystals from around her home. According to the woman, fake Halloween bones and a homemade doll completed the altar, and she turned her pentacles upside down to mimic imagery tied to the satanic panic.

After setting the scene, she allegedly started a FaceTime call with her ex-mother-in-law at a time when she knew the older woman would be home alone. According to the woman, when the call connected, the mother-in-law immediately asked, “What do you want, b*****?” The woman says she answered in a deep, creepy voice, reciting random Latin phrases while displaying the altar.

She allegedly worked her ex-mother-in-law’s name into the performance and closed the stunt by saying, “Hail satan.” She then claims she quickly ended the call to make the whole interaction look like an accidental butt dial. The mother-in-law allegedly sent frantic messages accusing her of being a devil worshipper and threatening to contact child protective services again.

The woman claims she played dumb, texting back, “I just butt dialed you. What are you even talking about?? Are you calling me possessed because of my epilepsy again??” According to the woman, the mother-in-law took the bait and confirmed in writing that she believed the woman was demonic. As that belief rested on the seizure disorder, the messages allegedly put her discriminatory views on record.

When the mother-in-law reportedly eventually reached out to child protective services again, the woman said her claims were met with skepticism. According to the woman, the authorities did not take the allegations seriously, as the mother-in-law’s documented fixation on the woman’s epilepsy made her appear unreasonable and discriminatory. However, the false claims continued for some time after that.

The woman claims she found satisfaction in watching the spiral that followed her stunt. Her ex-mother-in-law has reportedly since died, and she claims even her children felt relieved by the news. She reportedly now has full custody of both children.
