Dr. Oz will attend a panel at a MAHA summit in DC. The moderator is Russell Brand, who faces SA charges in London

A Tuesday panel at the Make America Healthy Again summit in Washington, D.C., is set to include Dr. Mehmet Oz, who serves as President Donald Trump’s Medicare and Medicaid administrator. Actor Russell Brand is scheduled to moderate the session.

The Washington Post’s Dan Diamond noted the lineup in a Monday social media post. Diamond wrote, “Russell Brand, who’s awaiting trial in London next month on rape and sexual assault charges, will moderate a panel at DC’s MAHA summit tomorrow on reforming a U.S. health agency.”

Also listed for the same panel is Chris Klomp, the Department of Health and Human Services’ chief counselor. The summit appearance comes shortly before Brand is expected to stand trial in London, as Diamond pointed out.

Brand is scheduled for a London trial next month after pleading not guilty

According to Mediaite, Brand has pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. Those charges come from allegations by six women and involve incidents said to have taken place between 1999 and 2009. The case highlights how legal proceedings can intersect with public figures, as seen when Trump pardoned the founder of a Las Vegas reentry program arrested for sexual assault.  

British authorities opened an investigation into Brand in 2023. He was later charged and granted conditional bail. Brand has denied engaging in non-consensual sexual activity. After the charges were announced, he said in a social media video, “I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist.”

Earlier this year, Brand admitted he had consensual sex with a 16-year-old girl when he was 30. He described that relationship as “exploitative” because of the age and power imbalance. Speaking with Megyn Kelly, Brand noted that the U.K. age of consent is 16 and said he was “a very different person” at the time.

The second annual Make America Healthy Again summit is also scheduled to include boxer Mike Tyson and actress Cheryl Hines. Hines is the wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The summit’s focus on health policy occurs as the Health Department cancels infant mortality postpartum grants to prioritize new administration priorities like sperm counts and ED.
