Elon Musk ended his last day at the Oval office with a black eye – no one is buying his reason

Something is not sitting right about that eye, Mr. Musk.

The Trump administration is reaching unheard-of levels of unintentional satire. Just a day after Elon Musk stepped down from his official government duties, where rumors ran wild that he was fired and it was a hit to his ego, he turned up to the Oval Office with a literal black eye.

The tech titan was at the White House for a joint press conference to mark the end of his tenure as a special government employee. His look for the day was a DOGE hat with a DOGEFATHER t-shirt. The memeified look was noted on People and was probably Musk’s normal, futile attempt at juvenile humor. What he should have done instead, probably, was find a way to distract everyone from his bruise — because that’s what everyone was thinking and seeing. Even Trump himself.

There’s more context here that needs to be laid out. As Elon stood beside Trump, the entire media landscape was on high alert because a new report had just come out chronicling Elon Musk’s increasingly worrying drug use behind the scenes. The bruise on Elon’s right eye left many wondering on X were even wondering if Elon had gotten into a tussle during the week.

When a reporter just straight up asked Elon about his bruise, he claimed that his son “Little X” (not to be confused with the platform X) was apparently behind the bruise. Trump, who initially said he hadn’t even noticed, seemed slightly amused. Elon, at some point, even tried joking that even though he had the bruise, he could confirm that he was nowhere near France. Again, the joke landed flat. But somehow, his claim that his toddler son could punch him as hard as prime Mayweather delivered all the laughs he craved with its ridiculous premise.

That being said, nobody online was buying it. Some users were taken aback by how inhibited Musk looked during the entire press conference.

Other users called the entire ordeal unhinged and even picked up on another rumor that Musk actually got in a fight with Trump’s Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent. There have certainly been ample sources who have made claims that Elon is really not all that well-liked within Trump’s inner circle.

Of course, the gossip mill had to turn to the report that Kate Miller – an adviser to DOGE and the wife of Stephen Miller, Trump’s chief policy head – has left the White House to work for Musk “full time” after his stint at the Oval Office was over.

In the New York Times exposé, Elon was alleged to be involved in intense drug use, from multiple pills to “daily ketamine use.” The source even claimed that Elon could allegedly be having bladder issues related to his intense drug use.

Reportedly, this intense drug use was tied to his heavy involvement in the Trump campaign in late 2024. The report, however, said that there’s no confirmation on whether Elon did or did not continue his heavy drug usage once they entered the White House. But the Nazi salute and all those other antics suggest that we are witnessing a man slightly off-kilter.

The Trump administration, in turn, is shaping up to be the most shockingly theatrical presidency since the Bush-Cheney era of political tomfoolery. Only this time, the jokes write themselves.
