A driver checks on the vehicle that hit his SUV — and finds a crying toddler alone behind the wheel: ‘how do I explain this’

A man walked toward a white sedan that appeared to have hit the bumper of his SUV in a parking lot. He filmed himself moving past his car and toward a white sedan that appeared to be pressed against his bumper. The clip, posted on TikTok by a user going by blakkthegemini, shows him looking through the sedan’s open window.

Inside, a small child is seen sitting close to the wheel and crying. The man reaches toward the child, visibly startled. “Oh, s**t! Oh, s**t!” he says before trying to calm the child. “Hey, calm down, calm down, calm down.”

He then gets into the white sedan and says he put it in park after discovering it was in drive with the child inside. “Hey, the car was in Drive with a baby in here,” he says. “I put it in park.” The footage moves around too much to show the gear shift clearly, so that detail comes from his account rather than the video itself.

He had no idea how to explain what just happened

The caption sums up his confusion after the crash. “Bro how do I explain this to the IRS ? A Baby drove into my car bruh,” he wrote, mixing up the tax agency with the word he meant. He later corrected himself in the comments. “Yall I meant INS,” he wrote, adding that people were “on my ahh” about the mix-up.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns that children should never be left alone in or around a vehicle, citing risks including heatstroke, entrapment and vehicle rollaways. Those dangers can become especially serious in hot weather, as seen when four children were found inside a 99-degree car at an Alabama Walmart.

Other parked cars, including SUVs and sedans, sit in the background as the person moves to a different angle to look at the damage. The sedan appears to be resting against the man’s bumper, although the clip does not show how the vehicles ended up there.

Commenters had questions of their own. One asked, “Where are the parents,” a question that also came up after a mother was confronted over children left alone in a Memphis parking lot. Another wrote, “So, they left him alone in the vehicle with the keys in the ignition.” A third commenter summed up the concern bluntly: “this could’ve ended so bad wtf.”

No names, ages, or other details about the child’s parents have surfaced. The video ends with the man’s phone still pointed at the sedan.
