A Texas customer at a Wingstop location confronted an employee after finding his takeout bag soaked with liquid he described as grease. The exchange was recorded and posted to TikTok by user @behrgris, who has about 8,070 followers on the platform.
In the video, the man holds up a Wingstop paper bag covered in grease stains, with the bag also placed inside a white plastic bag. “I need my order remade. It’s fully greased, it’s greased, leaking,” he tells the employee.
He then pulls out a black takeout container and points to liquid pooling at the bottom. “Look at all this grease dripping out of this box, dude. This is so f–king nasty,” he says.
Customer and employee disagree over whether the liquid is grease or sauce
The man, who is not named in the video, continues showing the container and the stains on the outside of the bag to the employee, a man wearing a black “WINGSTOP” t-shirt and glasses. “Look at all the grease in the bottom of this s**t. This is disgusting,” he says.
He then says the wings themselves are dry despite the liquid in the box. “This is – these are dry chicken wings full of grease. I need it remade,” he says, repeating his request to have the order remade. Food mix-ups at drive-thrus and counters have also drawn attention online, including a separate case where a fast food order arrived with unexpected melted cheese.
Pointing to the mess on the counter and on his own hand, the customer tells the employee, “Look at this. This is what you – this is the mess you made. This is what you put in my box.” The employee responds by disputing the customer’s description of the liquid. “Uh, that’s not grease, that’s actually sauce. That’s not grease,” he says.
The customer picks up one of the wings and holds it up to the camera to show it is dry. “No, this is – these are not sauced. You see, this is dry,” he says. He again points to the liquid in the container. “There’s grease on the bottom. That’s what – that’s grease dripping out. These are dry Louisiana rub. They’re dry,” he says. The employee again pushes back, telling him, “That’s not dry, that’s Louisiana rub sauce.”
The customer, now with the orange-brown liquid visible on his hand, maintains that the wings themselves show no sauce. “Louisiana rub is – this is a dry piece of chicken. All the – oh dude, all the pieces of chicken are dry. There’s no sauce on it. How is there sauce only in the bottom? That’s not sauce. This is – bro, this is not sauce, this is grease. Louisiana rub. I ordered Louisiana rub dry. Why is there sauce on there? Remake it, please,” he says.
The video description states the customer mentions this is not the first issue he has had at this location. In the clip, he says, “I just had a problem last time I was in here,” while apologizing for cursing during the exchange. Disputes over how food is prepared and served have become a recurring theme on social media, similar to another incident involving a customer’s order served without any cooking.
By the end of the video, the employee is seen picking up the greasy container from the counter. The video does not show whether the order was ultimately remade.
The video drew a large response on TikTok, with commenters split between siding with the customer’s complaint and defending the employee’s conduct. One commenter argued the liquid could not be sauce given how dry the wings looked, writing, “y’all mad at him for yelling but why is it SOAKED in grease. it’s literally SWIMMING in grease. it’s dry af with zero sauce, that’s grease.”
Another commenter, who said they work at Wingstop, offered a different explanation for the liquid, writing, “I work at Wingstop and FYI, It’s sauce bro not grease, there zero way that much grease can get from the fryer basket to the bowl into the hoggie. What actually happened was whoever sauced it put way to much d**n sauce and it spilled into the bag. Guess what when a dry rubs drys it becomes? DRY lmao.”
A third commenter focused on the customer’s tone toward the employee rather than the contents of the order, writing, “Dude he’s making minimum wage… chill out. He doesn’t get paid enough to have you yelling at him like that.”
In a follow-up video, the man gave more details about that earlier visit. He said the location has new management and that he had a problem there before this incident happened.
He said that during an earlier visit, he watched an employee hand out bags to other customers, asking each one, “Is this yours?” He said one bag was set down that he believed was his, but the employee did not bring it to him even though he was sitting near the counter.
He said he eventually approached the counter and told the employee, “Bro, you don’t see me standing right here?” He said the employee did not respond and that he then told the employee his name, saying, “That’s my name, I’m Eugene.”
He described that visit as the first negative experience at the location. He said he was on edge during his next visit, expecting further issues, and that this is when the grease incident with the dry wings occurred.
He said he does not add sauce or butter to his wings and always orders them dry. He said a Louisiana rub is meant to be seasoning only, without sauce or liquid added. He explained that after bringing the container back to the counter, the employee inspected it but did not agree to give him a refund. He said the employee told him to stop talking, and that when he asked the employee to step outside, the employee called the police instead.
It’s not clear what happened next and in which Wingstop location this occurred. Wingstop didn’t publicly responded to the video yet.
