‘They know something’: Texas woman walks into county tax office, and then, between legal help brochures, spots insane ‘zombie attack’ pamphlet

“Are you prepared for a zombie attack?”

TikToker, Bellah (@bellahmaree421), recently visited the Johnson County Tax Office in Texas to handle her registration sticker when she realized that something was off about the display of pamphlets on one wall. Nestled between the standard legal help documentation on issues like evictions was a bright yellow pamphlet that immediately caught her eye. The front of this mysterious document featured a headline that asked, “ZOMBIE ATTACK! Are you prepared?”

Per BroBible, Bellah said that “There was no employee to talk to. In fact, other than the office I was at to do my registration sticker, there wasn’t any employee to be seen.” This empty environment, combined with the sudden appearance of a zombie-themed survival guide, prompted her to film the display. The text overlay on her viral TikTok, which has now reached 5.8 million views, bluntly asks the question, “Think they know something we don’t.”

If you are wondering what exactly the local government is suggesting we do in the event of an undead uprising, the follow-up video provides all the answers. Bellah opened up the pamphlet to reveal the contents, which include headers like “Are you prepared for a zombie attack?” and “Better safe than sorry.” The guide included a list of supplies to keep on hand for survival, which is always useful, though perhaps not in the way the title implies.

There is genuine help behind that provocative headline

Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the tax office is using the zombie theme as a clever hook. The brochure explicitly notes that this disaster preparation guide is designed to apply to all kinds of real-world scenarios, such as a hurricane or a pandemic. The back of the document even lists legitimate local disaster response and law enforcement phone numbers, making it a functional resource disguised as a novelty item.

The reactions to the pamphlet have been entertaining, since many viewers understood why the office chose such a bold strategy. One person joked, “People are probably more likely to prepare for a zombie apocalypse than a hurricane,” highlighting just how effective this kind of eye-catching design can be.

Another viewer noted, “I think they’re using zombies to get people to actually pick up a brochure and have the information instead of ignoring it. The information is the same for anything. It’s good marketing.”

Then again, the internet loves being weird. Recently, Texas has been embracing the weird, what with alligators thwarting rescue attempts, and PETA now providing solutions for water shortages. I would say Zombie attacks are par for the course, and the comments delivered. One viewer questioned, “Is it just me or does it look like they’re adding the natural disasters part so people don’t write it off right away but it’s rlly about the zombies??”

Another user took a more dramatic approach. “Ummm it says at the end call your zombie response team??? like I didnt even know we had these?? this world is in hell!! thank you going to start planning for the end of the world smh.”

It was such a simple design choice, but it definitely caught our attention. So, if you find yourself waiting in line at a government building, pay closer attention to the brochure rack. You never know what you might find. Also, if you find more information on that “zombie response team,” hit us up.
