A woman in Georgia confronted her hairstylist at a restaurant after claiming the stylist had canceled her appointment and then refused to return a deposit she had paid, according to a video posted on TikTok by user @jailbae_.
In the video, the woman said her hairstylist had called off a booked appointment and then declined to refund the deposit already paid. She said the stylist told her she could reschedule instead of getting her money back, and that the cancellation was attributed to what was described as a family emergency. The woman said she later recognized the hairstylist’s car parked outside several businesses and decided to go inside one of them, a restaurant, to look for her.
According to the footage, the woman found the hairstylist sitting at a table with three other people and eating. She approached the table and questioned the stylist about canceling the appointment over what was described as a family emergency, while apparently being out at a restaurant. In response, the hairstylist said, “This is the emergency,” explaining that the family members seated with her were the emergency in question.
Hairstylist said the people she was eating with were the emergency
The woman then asked the hairstylist to return the deposit. The hairstylist replied that her website’s cancellation policy gives a customer 30 days to rebook without paying another deposit if an appointment is affected by an emergency or a cancellation on the stylist’s end. The woman disagreed with that interpretation, arguing the policy was meant to apply when the customer cancels, not when the stylist does.
“You cancel. You inconvenience me, but you’re outside drinking, having fun,” the woman told the hairstylist, as the exchange continued. A man seated next to the hairstylist appeared to then suggest she return the deposit and took money out of his pocket to hand to the woman.
Before he could do so, the hairstylist took the money from his hand instead, according to the footage. Restaurant experiences shared on social media have gone viral for very different reasons, including one diner’s costly meal at a Michelin-star restaurant that left them frustrated.
The hairstylist then asked the woman, “You interrupted my food. Would you like a shrimp?” She also claimed the disputed deposit was $15, though the woman said it was actually $50. The woman responded, “I needed my hair done today, but you’re outside eating, chilling,” arguing that the cancellation had disrupted her plans for the day.
The woman said she believed she had found out the real reason behind the cancellation, pointing to having located the hairstylist at the restaurant. As the hairstylist continued to decline returning the deposit, the woman approached a restaurant staff member, appeared to ordering food, and asked for the cost to be added to the hairstylist’s bill. “Put it on her tab,” she told the staff member while pointing toward the hairstylist’s table.
The hairstylist responded by telling her, “You crazy”. The woman then picked up a plate of shrimp from the table and appeared to walk away with it. The footage ends shortly after, and it remains unclear from the video whether the deposit dispute was resolved or whether restaurant staff became involved.
As of this writing, there have been no public updates on the outcome of the situation. Not every viral restaurant story online involves a dispute, as seen in a separate clip showing an owner’s food and hospitality praised by TikTok users.
The video drew a range of reactions online, with many commenters appearing to side with the woman. One commenter wrote, “why not just give her money back????” Another commenter wrote, “No one should EVER book with her again!!!” Other commenters described the hairstylist’s handling of the dispute as unprofessional. One person wrote, “Everybody at that table knew she was wrong.”
