A woman on TikTok has been trying to solve a perplexing mystery after she and her neighbors allegedly each received a DoorDash order with enough food to feed several families. The strange delivery came from someone in Massachusetts named Barry, but that’s all the information there is, so the woman took to TikTok to help her locate the mystery man.
The woman, who goes by the name “kritchenscissors” on TikTok, initially posted a single pic of a DoorDash delivery. It showed 19 pizza boxes and what looked to be paper bags stacked up outside her front door. The caption read: “Barry K… DoorDash left your order on my porch last night… We donated it to the homeless shelter… sorry about your pizzas… Hope you get your money back.” On the one hand, we hope the Dasher who delivered all that food got a good tip, but on the other hand, Barry has no food and is massively out of pocket, so it’s hard to imagine him tipping generously.
People on TikTok flooded the comments with quips about the situation: “Has anyone checked on Barry? He must be starving,” joked one. “Barry cannot catch a break,” wrote another. However, kritchenscissors soon became curious about who had sent so much food and why, especially after she realized that her neighbors across the street had also received a huge DoorDash order from the same person.
The hunt for Barry
Kritchenscissors soon returned to TikTok with another video in which she spoke about the bizarre DoorDash order in more depth. She revealed that the order had come from Salem, Massachusetts, and also showed a picture of the food outside her neighbor’s door, which came from Bonchon.
Naturally, she was determined to find out who Barry was and what had happened, was this just a case of ordering to the wrong address? Or was there something more? The people of TikTok wanted to help get to the bottom of the mystery too.
Most commenters continued with lighthearted jokes about how he “must have been STARVING,” but a few put forward genuine theories that could explain what happened to Barry. “Either Barry is very upset his party is missing food OR Barry has a child that was using their phone,” one person theorized. Another suggested it could have been an angry ex, and a third suggested it was part of an elaborate scam.
In another video, Kritchenscissors provided an update but unfortunately had no luck finding the ever-elusive Barry. She did confirm that she had been in contact with DoorDash regarding the situation and had contacted the Bonchon restaurant, who weren’t able to tell her much more. She has since posted in Facebook groups in a desperate bid to check up on Barry, but alas, still no luck.
As of writing, there is still no confirmation of who Barry is or if he even exists, but the hunt continues. The people of TikTok are persistent; rest assured, they will leave no stone unturned.
