Woman allegedly used a someone’s marriott room number to get food and drinks. Then a customer chases her down the street in flip-flops

A bartender who had just started a new job at a Marriott hotel bar says a Sunday order turned into one of the stranger nights she’s had on the job. According to her account, posted to TikTok under the handle @nk, the shift ended with a disputed bill and a customer who decided the story wasn’t over when everyone else had given up.

The bartender said the woman came in alone, ordered a burger, a triple shot of Patrón, and a strawberry shortcake to go, and stayed on the phone through nearly the entire exchange. “Every time I ask her a question, she’s really, like, frantic and answers me and then, like, goes back to her phone call,” the bartender said. When asked for a room number, she said the woman gave her one without looking up.

The trouble surfaced almost as soon as the woman walked out with her food. Her manager asked whether the customer had actually paid, and the room number on the ticket reportedly turned out not to belong to her at all. “That’s not her room number,” the manager said, according to the bartender. 

The bill was suddenly their problem

The pattern was apparently familiar, since the same tactic had reportedly played out at the Marriott down the road, where the woman had allegedly run up roughly $300 in charges using a room number that wasn’t hers. It wasn’t the first time a restaurant worker had been left wondering who would cover a bill after customers walked away, as another server found when most of a large group allegedly disappeared without paying.

Staff reportedly ran outside to look for the woman and came up empty, and by the bartender’s account, security was nowhere in sight either. “We’re just gonna have to eat the bill,” she said, describing the moment she and her manager figured the loss was final. When things go wrong, hotel bartenders can find themselves doing a lot more than serving drinks, as one worker previously found herself handling several jobs at once.

That’s when a customer who’d been sitting at the bar through the whole exchange got up. “One second. I can do something,” he reportedly told her, then ran out the door in flip-flops. The bartender said her manager watched him sprint down the street before cutting hard to the right, and the two of them were then left wondering what would happen if he actually caught up to the woman.

About ten minutes later, the front desk patched a call through to the bar. “I have eyes on her. She’s at the bus stop,” he reportedly said, before adding, “I’m Gonna call the police. I’m gonna tell him to hustle,” so officers would arrive before the bus did. 

The bartender said the man came back roughly ten minutes later, sat down, and finished the beer he’d left behind as though nothing had happened. She said she thanked him with two shots of absinthe on the house, ending the video with a shout-out: “But shout out to you, Frank.”

Reactions in the comments leaned toward disbelief at how far he took it. One commenter said the flip-flops made the chase “ten times more impressive.” Another wrote, “bartenders and servers need hazard pay fr, this is a whole side quest on top of an already busy shift.” A third said, “the bus stop part is the only thing I don’t believe, no way the cops actually showed up that fast around here.”

The video doesn’t say whether the woman was ever identified or whether the bill was recovered, leaving the alleged story where the bartender left it.
