Woman pays $120 for soft glam makeup. Then the artist finds her wedding photos on Instagram and allegedly claims she owes much more: ‘You owe me $650’

The artist was allegedly looking for a premium price

A TikTok creator who posts as Olivia (@oliviainthekitchen) shared a video that gained over two million views. On-screen text in the clip described the content as “Crazy texts from the makeup artist after she found out my sister was a bride.” Olivia sat at a table with a drink while the messages appeared on screen.

In the texts shown in the video, the makeup artist wrote, “GIRL what the f–k! I just saw this photo of you on Instagram….. the makeup you got done here yesterday was for YOUR WEDDING??” The woman replied, “Hahaha yes.” The makeup artist then sent “Wow” followed by “Im really disappointed.”

The woman asked, “what why?” According to the messages displayed in Olivia’s TikTok video, the makeup artist stated, “You booked a $120 soft glam.” The woman answered, “Yeah?” The artist continued that bridal makeup is “WAY more expensive.” The woman said she “didn’t want bridal makeup,” and the artist replied that she “were literally a BRIDE.” The woman answered, “and I wanted soft glam.” The makeup artist then wrote, “ITS THE SAME THING” and “you owe me $650.”

The exchange continued in a second TikTok video from the same creator

Olivia posted a follow-up TikTok clip with the caption “is tagging the makeup artist even a given???” On-screen text called it “Crazy texts from the makeup artist my sister didn’t tell she was a bride part 2.” In this video, Olivia prepared a layered drink while more text bubbles appeared.

One message from the makeup artist read, “ho you didn’t even tag me in your wedding photos. You didn’t want me to see them because you LIED.” The woman responded, “You charged me $120 I and tipped you $30 how do I owe you $650?” The artist then wrote, “You LIED TO ME ON PURPOSE.”

The woman stated in the texts, “Girl you asked what I wanted and I told you  I didn’t need bridal makeup.” The makeup artist replied, “That’s not a thing. You were a bride so it’s automatically in that category.” Olivia’s original video caption said, “I mean i see both sides but the texts are still wild.” Makeup pricing has stirred debate elsewhere too, such as when one woman tried a $50 Facebook Marketplace makeup artist and got the full treatment.

In the first set of messages shown on screen, the makeup artist insisted “ITS THE SAME THING”. The woman had maintained she only wanted the soft glam look she booked. Bridal pricing has caused clashes before, like when an Alabama makeup artist canceled on a bride who refused to pay more.

Viewers left a range of responses under the videos. One commenter suggested a practical step after such appointments and wrote, “Maybe we should start blocking them after appointments.” Another person who identified as a makeup artist explained their own pricing approach and stated, “the reason I charge more for bridal makeup is because of the months of preparation & trials. If it was one and done who cares where she wears it.”

A different viewer focused on the final cost and commented, “$650 for makeup is ridiculous just for me to wipe it off at the end of the night.” Someone else who said they work as a makeup artist noted they would not contact a client this way and wrote, “I’m a mua and personly I would not even text a client about that.”

One commenter questioned the pricing logic and said, “You only pay more when you get “bridal makeup” which probably includes way more makeup therefore you pay more. Her logic makes zero sense.” Another person cast doubt on the entire exchange and wrote, “Y’all this isn’t even real.”
